Remember Kenedy, the Brazilian winger who spent 18 months at St James’ Park over two separate loan spells? Well, he’s now in Spain and he’s just scored the best goal you’ll see all week!
After a spell with La Liga side Getafe across 2019/20, the 24-year-old – who is still on Chelsea’s books – is currently spending the season at Granada.
Fresh from a goal against Valencia a few weeks ago, the winger bagged his first of 2021 in some style on Wednesday night, beating two men and smashing this left-footed strike into the top corner to earn his 7th placed side a 2-2 draw with top four contenders Villarreal.
Watch it below:
Kenedy may forever remain an enigma. The former Chelsea loanee looked a huge talent during his first loan spell at St James’ Park across the second half of 2017/18, with his skill, ability to carry the ball and add flair to a previously workmanlike team helping us finish 10th that season.
That said, his second stint was an absolute disaster.
Aside from a good finish in a 3-2 defeat at Man Utd and brilliant cross for Salomon Rondon in that big win over Bournemouth, the Brazilian did nothing, starting just ONE of our last 19 league games under Benitez – and in turn making many thankful we didn’t do what so many fans demanded and pay £20m plus to sign him on a permanent deal in 2018!
It’s good to see him finding some form back in Spain, however, as it’s clear he’s got plenty of ability on his day….it just feels like ‘his day’ falls far too infrequently for a player of his undoubted talent.
