If you were annoyed by our display in Saturday night’s 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa, you better brace yourself for Steve Bruce’s quite incredible post-match comments.
According to the shameless Newcastle United head coach, there were “large parts” of the performance he was “pleased about”, stating he was “encouraged” by our display at Villa Park.
Here’s what he had to say after the game:
HOW can he take positives from that? OK, it was nice to see Saint-Maximin back out there, but we’ll need much more than a Saint to save this Steve Bruce side that look absolutely doomed as things stand.
TEN games without a win, FOUR goals in 19 first half’s this season, FOURTEEN hours since our last goal from open play, ELEVEN shots on target in our last six Premier League games since Christmas and a club in absolute free fall…all while clubs around us continue to pick up points and show genuine signs of a revival.
Bruce won’t walk – he wants his compensation pay off too much to do that – but Mike Ashley MUST now sack his man before it’s too late.

I still remember when people on here said we couldn’t do worse than Pardew and that he made players worse. What the **** has Bruce now done to a side which, while never exciting, at least used to be solid and competent at counter attacking football. Hayden and Almiron were okay today and Darlow saved blushes at the end. Everyone else looked pathetic
