Bruce eyeing 2 deals in next 4 days with midfielder likely after Longstaff ‘dispute’ – Report

Steve Bruce is pushing to pull off TWO new signings before the transfer window shuts on Monday night, according to the Shields Gazette.

Interestingly, Liam Kennedy’s piece claims that a move for another central midfielder is our main focus after a ‘dispute’ involving Sean Longstaff and the current head coach.

The midfielder has been left out of Bruce’s entire squad in recent defeats against Leeds and Aston Villa and was an unused substitute in the 3-0 loss at Arsenal, meaning he’s failed to feature since that abysmal night at Bramall Lane.

Full details of the issue between him and the NUFC boss aren’t disclosed, however The Gazette seem to think this has only increased Bruce’s desire to sign another midfielder this month.

Hamza Choudhury is said to be on our wanted list, however it remains to be seen if Leicester City’s stance on a potential exit will change after midfielder Wilfred Ndidi limped off in their 1-1 draw at Everton on Wednesday night.

So, Bruce wants TWO in – presumably a midfielder and a full-back following the Willems / Williams links – although Kennedy does insist that the likes of Matt Ritchie and DeAndre Yedlin may need to be moved on first before players arrive, with Bruce’s 25-man squad currently full.

Hopefully it’s a busy few days for all the right reasons after what has been an extremely uneventful January transfer window up to this point!

  1. Why would we want a dirty player like choudhory who put Richie out for weeks and now it comes to the point of Richie goes I go I supported NUFC for all of my life and apart from mr midfield maestro himself Mr r lee he is the only one that has done his job

  2. Maybe why Ritchie is being moved out to allow Choudhory to move in, Bruce could make more of a mess than Dalglish did, Jesus, this could be a disaster
