Newcastle make loan move for unsettled Celtic star – Sky Sports

According to Sky Sports, Newcastle United have submitted a loan enquiry over the potential signing of Cetlic midfielder Olivier Ntcham.

Sky’s Scottish correspondent Anthony Joseph claims the 24-year-old has ‘made it clear he wants to leave’ and it seems a move South to St James’ Park could be on the cards.

That said, it’s said the SPL giants would like an ‘option to buy clause’ included in any deal that sees him leave on loan until the end of the season, with West Brom also showing interest.

North-East correspondent Keith Downie has also confirmed news of our enquiry, stating that we are looking to add a midfielder before Monday’s 11pm deadline.

Interestingly, Downie also insisted that a move for Hamza Choudhury is NOT ‘off’, just that we are now pursuing potential alternatives – which makes sense considering he’ll only leave if Leicester find a replacement over the next 48 hours.

Ntcham is a former France U-21 international who has bagged 24 goals and 13 assists in 147 appearances at Celtic.

He’s an explosive centre midfielder who is good technically, dynamic and capable of playing in a box-to-box role – however he has been one of several Hoops stars who’ve struggled under Neil Lennon this season.

  1. Box to box midfielder. Just what we need. As long as he can pass to someone on his own team, he’d be an improvement. If he can take free kicks, that would be a bonus.
