Yedlin signs for Galatasaray – Official photos, transfer fee & wages revealed as NUFC star departs

It’s official – DeAndre Yedlin has left Newcastle United is now a Galatasaray player.

After almost five years at St James’ Park, the USA international has swapped Tyneside for Turkey after completing his medical in Istanbul earlier today.

He’s signed a two-and-a-half year deal worth 2.5 million euros with the Turkish giants and signs on ‘free transfer’.

Here’s confirmation of the signing from Galatasaray’s end and pictures of the 27-year-old in his new colours, followed by their official statement on the deal:

‘Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş. professional football player DeAndre Yedlin reported to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) that an agreement was reached on the transfer.

The notification made by Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş. on the Public Disclosure Platform is as follows:

An agreement has been reached with professional footballer DeAndre Roselle Yedlin and his club Newcastle United Limited to transfer the player free of charge.

With the player himself, starting from the 2020-2021 season, the following terms have been agreed for 2.5 football seasons:

350.000 EUR fixed transfer fee [wages] net for the season 2020-2021

1.150.000 EUR fixed transfer fee [wages] net for the 2021-2022 season

1.100.000 EUR fixed transfer fee [wages] for the 2022-2023 season.

It is respectfully announced to the public.’

Yedlin was a key part of our 2016-17 promotion-winning season and a player who has always given his all for the club and acted professionally throughout – never complaining or kicking up a fuss during spells out of the side.

His exit also frees up a place in Steve Bruce’s 25-man Premier League squad – meaning TWO could sign before the 11pm deadline given Arsenal talent Joe Willock can qualify as an U-21 player should he arrive on loan.

As for Yedlin, wish him the best of luck out in Turkey – where I’m sure his frightening pace and endless energy will be adored!

Thank you and good luck, DeAndre!
