Newcastle about to pull off shock deadline day signing….then stabbed in Kabak – Report

Some frustrating new transfer claims have arrived from the BBC’s Ian Dennis, who reveals tonight that Newcastle were about to sign Schalke’s Ozan Kabak…until Liverpool ‘nipped in’ at the 11th hour!

Dennis states that we had ‘agreed a deal’ with the Turkish international, only for the Reds to blow us out the water as they showed late interest – with their deal said to include an option to buy the Bundesliga defender for £18m at the end of the season.

Considering Jamaal Lascelles and Federico Fernandez look set to be missing for ‘at least’ the next few weeks, we could’ve really done with another centre-back – especially when we’re yet to replace Florian Lejeune following his loan move to Alaves!

The 20-year-old is a highly-rated centre-back who has seven caps for his country and six goals in 55 appearances in the German top flight, with him said to be the one shining light in an otherwise dismal season for Schalke.

This comes just moments after the BBC’s senior reports claimed that Joe Willock’s loan move to St James’ Park is ‘done’.

Lee Ryder claims that the player is still finalising personal terms and the formalities of a move, however the BBC reckon the Arsenal midfielder’s arrival is imminent.

His arrival adds much needed pace, energy and drive to our midfield, but the fact we’ve now missed out on Choudhury and been pipped to the signing of Kabak may leave a bitter taste in Bruce’s mouth tonight.
