The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has offered a fresh update on Joe Willock’s proposed move to Newcastle United – and it’s good news in more ways than one.
He claims that the 21-year-old is now ‘on the verge’ of signing at St James’ Park, with Mikel Arteta eager to send the midfielder St James’ Park for regular first-team football.
Not only do The Telegraph report that we are ‘confident’ he’ll sign, being ‘on the brink’ of an agreement with Arsenal, they state that he could even remain at Newcastle for the next 18 months.
Luke Edwards claims that this could depend on his performances this season and how he settles into life on Tyneside, but believes there is now a ‘good chance’ his loan deal will run until the summer of 2022.
That said, he is believed to be in Mikel Arteta’s long-term at The Emirates, meaning any ‘option to buy’ will NOT be included in any loan deal.
So, while our attempts to sign Choudhury drag on and hinge on Leicester’s ability to land a replacement, it does at least feel as though Willock will be a Magpie before tonight’s 11pm deadline – giving Bruce some much needed energy, drive and dynamism in midfield.

Why would Mikel Arteta have long term plans, he will be gone from Arsenal well before the lone deal ends
