Bruce makes 2 changes vs Southampton as Willock starts and Saint-Maximin returns

The teams are in ahead of today’s 3pm kick off at St James’ Park and Steve Bruce has made TWO changes – handing starts to Allan Saint-Maximin and Arsenal loanee Joe Willock.

Here’s the starting 11 and subs in full:

(4-3-1-2?): Darlow – Manquillo, Hayden, Schar, Lewis – Hendrick, Shelvey, Willock – Almiron – Saint-Maximin, Wilson.

SUBS: Dubravka, Dummett, Carroll, Joelinton, Ritchie, Gayle, Krafth, Fraser, Anderson

So, in come Saint-Maximin and Willock for Fraser and Clark – with the latter not involved due to his wife being in labour.

This means Hayden has dropped into the centre of defence, with Willock replacing him in the middle of the park alongside Shelvey and Hendrick.

Elsewhere, both Longstaff’s and Jacob Murphy have been left OUT of the matchday squad once again, with Ritchie returning to the bench after a few weeks away.

For the visitors, Jan Bednarek starts after his midweek red was overturned, with him also boosted at the back by the return of Yannik Vestegaard and defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu.
