According to The Athletic, Achraf Lazaar has landed himself a surprise move to Watford.
The recently relegated Hornets are believed to have handed him an initial six month deal that will include an option to keep him for a further year.
This comes just a few days after he was officially released by Newcastle United, with the club revealing last week that a contract settlement was ‘mutually agreed’ between both parties.
As revealed by The Athletic’s Adam Leventhal last night, the Moroccan will train with his new club today after completing a medical at Vicarage Road on Monday.
So, it seems he’ll be coming in to provide cover down their left-hand side, with him also set to be reunited with Rob Elliot – another ex-Mag who recently joined Watford following his release from Newcastle last summer.
As for Lazaar, he’s done pretty well to land himself a move to a promotion chasing Championship side considering his recent loan spells have seen him struggle to get a game for a series of clubs in Serie B!
After making just 10 appearances in four and a half years on Tyneside, let’s hope his spell in Hertfordshire helps him get his practically dormant career back on track.
