Salomon Rondon completes surprise move – Official photos here as ex-NUFC star leaves China

Former Newcastle United star Salomon Rondon has completed a surprise loan move to Russian giants CSKA Moscow.

After 18 months in China, the Venezuelan has joined Rafa Benitez in leaving Dalian Pro, with the Spaniard confirming his exit earlier this month after deciding to return to his family in England.

Rondon’s spell with Dalian was a successful one from a personal point of view, with his 14 strikes and seven assists meaning he was involved in an impressive 21 goals in 28 appearances for the club.

Here’s a picture of him donning his new colours following his return to Russia:

This is 31-year-old’s third stint in Russia, with him previously enjoying prolific spells with Zenit St. Petersburg and Rubin Kazan.

The fact it’s a loan deal until the end of the 2020/21 season makes you wonder if we could’ve brought the big man back to St James’ Park?

Perhaps his huge wages would have been a clear stumbling block, but he would’ve been the perfect replacement for Wilson – who is set to be sidelined for the next two months with a torn hamstring.

Good luck, Salomon!
