Ronaldo pocketed by ex-NUFC star & Toon flop bags big Champions League goal – Video

It was a big night for a few former Mags last night, with Chancel Mbemba and Luuk De Jong shining at both ends in the UEFA Champions League.

Starting with Mbemba, the Congolese centre-back put in another rock solid performance on the European stage as his Porto side beat Juventus 2-1 in the first leg of their last 16 clash.

Not only that, he kept none other than Cristiano Ronaldo quiet all night, with the Portuguese superstar feeding off scraps and fortunate to see his side lose by just one in the end!

I’ve watched him a few times in the Champions League this season and it’s not the first time he’s impressed, with the former NUFC defender impressive in Porto’s group stage clashes with Man City.

Rember Luuk De Jong? Well, the Dutchman who did just about nothing to impress during a loan spell at St James’ Park in 2014 scored for Sevilla last night.

He bagged what could be a vital late goal for the Spaniards, with his 84th minute strike reducing the deficit to just one in a 3-2 defeat to German giants Borussia Dortmund.

The 30-year-old has 17 goals over the past season and a half, proving he can do it in La Liga following a ridiculous 112 goals and 56 assists in 204 games for PSV!

  1. Mbemba great player who could play anywhere at the back. Could also pick out a pass Wish we still had him. Shouldn’t forget that Benitas got rid of him along with Merino and Mbabu. Ah well no manager is perfect but I could never understand why he got rid of those three.
