Allan Saint-Maximin reveals NUFC’s big ‘problem’ – but explains why Fulham don’t worry him

Allan Saint-Maximin has revealed why he doesn’t let himself worry about Fulham’s upturn in form, insisting we have the ability to stay up on our own merit.

The Frenchman highlights our outstanding performance in the 2-0 win against Everton as proof of our quality, but does accept that our one ‘problem’ is the fact we haven’t been playing like that on a consistent basis.

Back-to-back defeats against Chelsea and Man Utd have left us just three points above the drop zone and in serious danger of being caught by Scott Parker’s Fulham.

Saint-Maximin doesn’t seem concerned, however, telling NUFC TV that we’ll win “a lot of games” if we can keep building on improved performances of late:

“I don’t worry a lot because I know we can win a lot of games.

“You saw against Everton.

“You see that we have the power to do that but we just have to do that more, to do that every game, and that’s the problem I think for me.

“But we work a lot in training.

“We try to do everything to be better and we just have to keep improving.”

He could be close to hitting the nail on the head with these comments.

Saint-Maximin himself, despite being our most electric player in years, can also suffer with the stain of inconsistency and this is something we must improve on if we want to remain a top flight club.

Injuries have hampered us at times, with key players like Wilson, ASM and Dubravka missing big chunks of the season, however recent performances against Everton and Southampton suggest we do have it in us to win games by right – not rely on the luck Bruce got bucket loads of last season!

I’m glad Saint-Maximin acknowledges this, as we need him firing on all cylinders to give us any chance of staying in the division.
