Ex-NUFC striker linked with unlikely return to Tyneside – Leicester & West Ham also keen

According to reports, Newcastle are one of three Premier League clubs showing interest in none other than Ivan Toney.

This comes from The Sun, who claim that Leicester City see him as a future Jamie Vardy replacement – however the same piece states both ourselves and West Ham are ‘monitoring’ the Brentford star.

As we know, Toney was sold by the club during Rafa Benitez’s reign, with him completing a £650,000 move to Peterborough in the summer of 2018.

Since then he’s proven to be far too good for the EFL, with him following a prolific season in League One with a stunning 24 goals in 30 Championship games this season following his £10m move to Brentford.

He’ll be a Premier League player soon, whether it’s with Brentford or a top flight side willing to pay the alleged £25m asking price placed on his head, however I’m pretty certain it won’t be with the club that said he wasn’t good enough just a few years ago!

Either way, he’ll be one to watch this summer if the Bees fail to gain promotion once again.

  1. Why would he want to come back to a club with the fcb as owner , a clueless manager a club devoid of any ambition, who never give him a decent run in the team, unbelievable .
