“He looks like he doesn’t want to be here” – Journalist fears NUFC star regrets signing for Steve Bruce

Lee Ryder believes that Ryan Fraser doesn’t look like he wants to play for Newcastle United.

The Scotsman has had a stop-start debut season on Tyneside, struggling to cement a regular place while picking up several niggling injuries.

Now, speaking on The Chronicle’s Everything is Black and White podcast, Lee Ryder has questioned Fraser’s attitude and body language of late, believing he looks like a man who’s “made a mistake” signing for Steve Bruce’s NUFC.

Here’s what he had to say about the winger:

“Fraser for me doesn’t look like he wants to be here.

“You’re asking me an honest question and I’m giving you my opinion from what I am seeing – he doesn’t look like he wants to be here.

“It looks to me like he feels he’s made a mistake coming to Newcastle.

“We are not seeing the Ryan Fraser which we saw at Bournemouth, and we know with him it could be a situation where if he’s not happy, he’s not performing and that is what it looks like at the minute.”

After an electric start, scoring on his debut against Blackburn, Fraser has fizzled out and failed to showcase what he’s capable of – so far.

To be fair to him, he has been denied a decent run in the team since arriving and has come to a club that is going through a time of struggle.

We know from his time at Bournemouth that he is capable of downing tools but I think it may be slightly premature for Ryder to suggest anything untoward here – unless he really is frustrated by Bruce bemoaning when he’s injured than failing to give him a run of starts when fit!

After all, he was brilliant in that 2-0 win at Everton but hasn’t started since…

  1. I’d be unhappy too if I wasn’t given a start more often. Fraser is one of our better players he’s just being ruined by Bruce. I’m hoping Jones gets something out of him but he needs more than cameo appearances.

  2. THE ONLY player that’s happy under Bruce is Hendrick = like Bruce he can’t believe he blagged a premiership position!!

The idiot skips around and is SO lightweight – looks like she played for Burnley’s Woman’s second 11

We’ve actually got some VERY good players but under Bruce their values have gone through the floor

Shelvey should ALWAYS be on the bench = coming on only when the opposition have run themselves ragged – as he simply goes missing in the second half

I have said for each game frazer plays he has a massive chip on his shoulders Hendrick no better when are we stop buying rejects or overrated players ie,,, Jolinton a winger not a striker ! bruce needs to wake up stop playing mix match players who do not jell I also say bruce acts like a supporter not a strong manager ?

  4. I think he is a footballer who wants to play football but is restricted by the manager we have in charge and his natural game has been shot to bits by Bruce but that could also go for every footballer playing under Bruce at the moment go no further than the Longstaff brothers what has happened to them

  6. The blokes trouble, if he doesn’t get his own way he downs tools, Thinks he is better than he really is, doesn’t have the stomach for a relegation battle, he believes he is better than that. Glad he left us he’s rotten and will bring the dressing room down with his attitude
