NUFC handed big injury boost 48 hours before Saturday’s crucial clash with Wolves

Newcastle United have confirmed that Javier Manquillo has returned to training ahead of Saturday night’s crucial clash with Wolves at St James’ Park.

Steve Bruce initially feared that the Spaniard would be out for ‘4 – 8 weeks’ after suffering an ankle injury in that 3-2 win over Southampton, however he did confirm last Friday that he has ‘responded well’ to treatment.

A week on, the club have just shown the right-back training at our Benton base on Thursday morning along with a “back soon” message – suggesting he could well be fit to play this weekend!

He’s been a big miss over the past two games, with Emil Krafth having a torrid time in recent defeats to Chelsea and Manchester United.

Not only that, Wolves had look set to have either Pedro Neto or Adama Traore running at the Swede on Saturday night – a frightening prospect!

Time will tell if Manquillo is deemed ready to return this weekend – all will be revealed in Bruce’s presser tomorrow morning – however these pictures along with the club’s “back soon” message suggest he might just be back just when we need him.

Callum Wilson may be the big one we want back, but with Wolves’ danger men in mind and Krafth’s recent form, Manquillo’s return would hand us a huge boost ahead of such a big game.
