According to reports, Newcastle have already identified TWO summer targets – Benfica’s Nuno Taveres and Valencia talent Kang-In Lee.
Starting with Tavares, Portuguese outlet O Jogo claim we are showing ‘intense’ interest in the left-back – even stating we have ‘promised’ to make a summer bid for the 21-year-old.
Tavares is a Portuguese U-21 international who’s bagged seven assists in 36 appearances for the Liga NOS giants.
The report states that Napoli and Burnley are also keen, but suggest we are the favourites for his signature based on our long-term interest- claiming we’ve been interested for over 18 months now.
Elsewhere, Italian outlet Calciomercato claim we are set to make a summer bid for South Korean star Kang-In Lee.
The versatile forward has burst onto the scene in Spain over the past two seasons, with the 20-year-old talent now a regular part of the Valencia attack.
Calciomercato report that we are ‘preparing an offer’ for the La Liga talent – although the fact a fee in the region of £20m is mentioned raises doubts based on his age and lack of experience.
That said, this is a club who had no problem paying double that for an unproven Joelinton 18 months ago!
