Sack Steve Bruce – His position is untenable, he’s lost the players & could seal our fate on Sunday

If just 2 wins in our last 17 games wasn’t enough, a ‘bust-up’ with a senior player and dejected dressing room really should be the final straw ahead of our most important game of the season to date.

Following Craig Hope’s damning ‘exclusive’ on the Matt Ritchie incident and toxic situation behind the scenes that clearly runs MUCH deeper than a few choice words in the heat of the moment, there’s never been a more critical time to get rid of Steve Bruce.

We face a potentially make or break match in just a few days time – and are quite clearly heading into it in the worst possible state (in more ways that one!).

Sack him and I think the players could feel a sense of relief and beat West Brom on Sunday. After all, one key point to come out of Hope’s explosive piece is that the players believe Graeme Jones is far more capable and someone who could guide us to safety.

On the flip side, keep Bruce and it’s quite clear the dressing room will be a complete and utter mess for our ‘must win’ clash at West Brom this weekend.

Beating Big Sam’s baggies will be tough enough without Wilson, Almiron and Saint-Maximin, so the fact we could head to The Hawthorns with a manager that’s lost the plot and team that no longer trust him reeks of relegation.

After the latest revelations have made many realise just how bad the situation is behind the scenes, we are sleepwalking into a defeat at West Brom – a result I don’t think we’d recover from but one that feels fairly inevitable as things stand.

Mike Ashley may have already left it too late – he should’ve sacked Steve Bruce the moment we set up to get a draw at a winless Sheffield United and lost – but if he’s serious about protecting his asset and keeping us in the Premier League, he must act NOW.
