“Good friend” of Steve Bruce makes takeover prediction & explains why his days are numbered

Dean Windass believes Steve Bruce will NOT be manager of Newcastle United next season – feeling either relegation or a takeover will see him lose his job.

This is because the former Hull star predicts Mike Ashley will find new buyers with new ideas – Saudis or not – if we stay up, creating a potential lose lose situation for Bruce given he’d almost certainly be sacked in the event of relegation.

Windass does question who would buy the club if we went down, but either way he doesn’t see Bruce being in the job much longer.

Here is what he told Football Fancast:

“Who’s going to buy Newcastle if they’re in the Championship?”

“Newcastle could go as they did a few years ago and end up in Division Two.

The supporters will never change, the supporters will be there week in week out, home and away no matter if Mike Ashley is in charge or not.

“If Newcastle stay in the Premier League will Steve Bruce still be the manager next season? No. Mike Ashley will sell his shares to somebody who wants to buy Newcastle to take them forward.

“Hopefully Bruce doesn’t see this because he’s a good friend, but his days are numbered.”

So, he reckons relegation means no new owners but a new manager, and survival will equate to a takeover and change in the dugout as a result – a situation that involves no Steve Bruce either way.

That said, one worry is that we’d suffer the unthinkable but Mike Ashley would see Bruce’s experience in the second tier as a reason to stick with him – not pay millions to sack him.

This would be another disastrous decision, but you could put nothing past the man who thought it was perfectly acceptable to swap a Champions League manager for a Championship one 18 months ago!

  1. This division 2 remark was also said a couple of weeks ago by some pundit.
It should be confirmed that this club has NEVER ever fallen into the third tier of football (unlike some local opponents we might say).
Having said that, go down this season and keep the Brucemeister next season and that may be a distinct possibility.

  2. Nufc are a football club who have never been in division 2 once again a pundit who hasn’t done any research on our club Clown
