NUFC’s relegation rivals dealt fresh blow as best player is ruled out for the season

After what unfolded over the weekend, some believe Brighton are the side who could soon slip into the relegation zone following Fulham’s rise to form.

Not only do they sit one point below us in the table after losing to Leicester on Saturday night, it’s now emerged that star man Tariq Lamptey has been ruled out for the season.

The wing-back had been closing in on a return to action, however The Athletic report that he’s suffered a setback and been forced to undergo surgery that will end his season just when Graham Potter was hoping to have him back!

With Brighton losing three games on the spin and failing to turn promising performances into points, this is a blow to their survival hopes – especially when Lamptey was the heartbeat of their team and star player over the first half of the season.

This also means he won’t be playing in our crucial clash at The Amex later this month – and it’s just as well after he tore us apart in their 0-3 win at St James’ Park back in September.

Clutching at straws when Graham Potter’s men still look a much better side than Steve Bruce’s? Perhaps, but we’ll need all the help we can get and this is a bitter blow for Brighton.

It’s just a shame Allan Saint-Maximin, Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson won’t be fit to make the most of Lamptey’s absence!
