Dubious ‘exclusive’ claims NUFC will try to sign this £15m player if we avoid relegation

Newcastle have been linked with a summer move for Norwich City star Todd Cantwell.

This comes via an ‘exclusive’ from Football League World – a slightly dubious source but not the first time we’ve been linked with a move for the 23-year-old.

Although it probably goes without saying given Norwich are currently top of the Championship and favourites for automatic promotion, the report states that any move for the attacking midfielder would be dependant on us staying in the Premier League.

Even if we stay up, this seems an unlikely move given our alleged lack of funds and the fact Norwich will be reluctant to sell a key player once promoted, however it is worth noting he is entering the final 12 months of his contract with the Canaries – something that could leave them considering a sale.

The elegant midfielder – who can play out wide or in the No 10 role – has bagged four goals and five assists this season, weighing in with seven goals in all competitions during their year in the Premier League across 2019/20.

Transfermarkt value him at £15m, with Football League World also noting that he has admirers at Tottenham.

Cantwell is believed to be a close friend of Jamal Lewis’ – the former Norwich star who swapped Carrow Road for St James’ Park in a £13.5m deal last summer.

  1. Norwich have a 1 year option so that’s another 12 months to add to his contract. Also there’s not a chance in hell that he will go for as little as £15m. And sadly for Newcastle, if he does leave he will go to a top 8 club, there would be little point in exchanging Norwich for Newcastle if Norwich go up. His quality is above your level and he clearly merits a more progressive move.

One could go and but Messi BUT with Bruce still there he will perform like Joelinton
