The 10 favourites to replace Steve Bruce if the NUFC boss was sacked this weekend

Looking at the bookies favourites to replace Steve Bruce – who could be given the boot if we lose to Brighton this weekend – there are some interesting names in contention for the job.

Current assistant Graeme Jones is joint-favourite at 5/1 to replace his gaffer in the dugout alongside ex-Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe, who is a popular choice with supporters.

The return of Rafa Benitez seems unlikely without a changes of ownership, but the out of work Spaniard is the third favourite at 6/1.

After Rafa comes former Stoke and Man City boss Mark Hughes (7/1) – a man believed to be ‘desperate’ to land another top flight job – followed by recently sacked duo Chris Wilder and Frank Lampard at 8/1, with Belgium’s manager Roberto Martinez available at the same price.

Alongside Laurent Blanc, former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is a long shot at 14/1 after recently walking away from Marseille, while ex-Everton boss Marco Silva makes the ‘top 10’ at odds of 16/1:

  • Graeme Jones 5/1
  • Eddie Howe 5/1
  • Rafa Benitez 6/1
  • Mark Hughes 7/1
  • Frank Lampard 8/1
  • Chris Wilder 8/1
  • Roberto Martinez 8/1
  • Laurent Blanc 14/1
  • Andre Villas Boas 14/1
  • Marco Silva 16/1

The sad reality is, it may only be Jones, Wilder or Hughes who’d be happy to take charge of Mike Ashley’s rapidly sinking ship should we lose on Saturday night!
