Graham Potter names 4 Newcastle players he’s got his eye on & compliments Bruce ahead of Brighton clash

Graham Potter has highlighted Joelinton, Ryan Fraser, Joe Willock and Dwight Gayle as four players his Brighton side must watch out for in tonight’s relegation six-pointer.

Potter was speaking at his pre-match press conference and acknowledged our recent improvement in performances – despite failing to turn many of those into wins.

The Seagulls are fresh off a huge 2-1 win against Southampton last time out and go into tonight’s clash one point above us, making this a mammoth match for both sides.

Here is what Potter say, saying Steve Bruce sides are tough to play against and ‘find ways to win’:

“It’s a really difficult game – a team that’s improved recently I think.

“They’ve got a clear idea about what they’re trying to do. Tactically they’re very organised. They use the counter-attack well with Joelinton.”

“Whether it’s [Ryan] Fraser or [Joe] Willock or [Dwight] Gayle, they’ve got some options there.

“They’ve still got some good players, some Premier League players that have won games at this level, so as always with Steve Bruce’s teams, they find ways to win, they find ways to get results and they will be competing and will be a tough team to play.”

Luckily for Potter, devastating duo Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin are sidelined, so if Joelinton’s counter attacking is the most troubling thing on his mind about tomorrow then I’m sure he’ll have slept like a baby last night!

Just two wins in 19 make us a huge 11/2 underdog with the bookies for this one. A full strength Toon squad got a 3-0 hammering at St James’ Park in the reverse fixture, so it is understandable why nobody fancies us to get a result here.

Hopefully Miguel Almiron gives us a late boost and is deemed fit enough to start, because the current attack looks blunt at best!
