VIDEO: Newcastle star scores impressive goal in World Cup qualifier on Sunday night

Ryan Fraser’s first season at St James’ Park has been a damp squib so far, however he reminded us all what he’s capable of on Sunday night.

Playing in Scotland’s World Cup qualifier against Israel, the winger finished expertly from the edge of the box to get his side level in the 56th minute.

The game ended 1-1, meaning Steve Clarke’s Scotland have started their qualifying campaign with two straight draws – making Wednesday night’s clash with the Faroe Island a must-win.

Watch Fraser’s impressive finish below:

It was interesting to see that Fraser was not playing as a ‘split striker’ in this game – something he’s done to get effect in previous appearances for the national team.

With us in dire need of goals, inspiration and moments of quality over the final nine games of the season, let’s hope Fraser can find his best form in a black and white shirt over the coming months.

Based on his impressive link up play with Callum Wilson during their time together at Bournemouth, it could be a big boost to have both fit at the same time after the international break.
