USA powerhouse linked with move to Newcastle after ‘outstanding’ Championship loan spell

Newcastle have today been linked with a summer move for highly-rated Barnsley striker Daryl Dike.

The 6ft 2′ powerhouse has been one of the Championship’s surprise packages this year, scoring five goals in 11 games since arriving from MLS side Orlando City in January.

As a result, TEAMtalk claim we are one of several Premier League clubs showing interest in the 20-year-old – stating that Newcastle scouts have been watching him closely following his ‘outstanding’ displays in the second tier.

His dominant displays have not only earned him a call-up to the USA national side, but also helped Barnsley move up to 5th in the Championship – with his arrival helping them earn a stunning nine wins and a draw in their last 11 league games.

The report states that Barnsley will activate their option to sign Dike IF they seal surprise promotion to the Premier League, but failure to do so and the striker is expected to stay in England given the amount of interest he’s believed to be receiving.

A young striker with potential who could be available on the cheap? This sounds right up Mike Ashley’s street!
