Andy Carroll could leave NUFC for relegation rivals if these TWO conditions come true – Report

West Brom are eyeing a summer move for Andy Carroll, according to The Chronicle.

They report that the Baggies remain interested in the striker and could pounce if A) he is not handed a new deal at St James’ Park and B) Sam Allardyce remans in charge at The Hawthorns.

Big Sam managed Carroll as a youngster at Newcastle but their pair are best remembered for their time together at West Ham, with the gaffer splashing out £17m to take him to London from Liverpool in 2013.

Now reports in our local media suggest that a reunion could be on the cards should we decide not to renew his contract at the end of the season:

Here is a snippet from The Chronicle’s piece, which highlights that Carroll may have to accept reduced terms if he’s to extend his stay:

“Reduced salaries may also come into play, and Carroll, like Gayle, may have to accept lesser deals than his current contracts if he is to extend his stay.

“The Geordie striker is also expected to have interest if his contract runs down with West Bromwich Albion keen if Sam Allardyce stays on this summer, and other Championship sides keeping an eye on the situation for the ex-England striker.”

Carroll has failed to live up to the heights since his return to Tyneside in 2019.

He has scored just once in almost 40 appearances and has struggled to stay fit for most of the time since he has been here.

The will to put his body on the line and be a handful for opposition defenders will never leave him, but the Premier League quality he once had escaped a long time ago and he doesn’t look mobile enough to last the pace at this level.

One to watch this summer if we decide against keeping him around.

  1. He’ll be missed – NOT – we’ll have to buy another seat warmer from Sports Defect – sadly from when he left NUFC and returned, he’s spent SO LONG not playing (injured) he thinks it’s all about jumping into defender’s and has forgotten just how to play football

I feel for him as Bruce hasn’t given him a decent run in the team – there must be something in Joelinton’s contract that means he HAS to play = otherwise Bruce is a bigger Clown than we thought
