Newcastle now eyeing summer move for ‘exciting’ Championship winger – Report

Newcastle have today been linked with a summer move for Bristol City winger Antoine Semenyo.

This comes via an ‘exclusive’ from TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey, who reports that we are one of several Premier League clubs doing regular checks on his progress this season.

The 21-year-old winger has bagged five goals and seven assists across 2020/21, with his pace, power and skill causing Championship defences havoc in Bristol City’s push towards the play-offs.

TEAMtalk report that Crystal Palace are leading the chase for the London-born attacker who can play down either flank or up top, however it’s said ourselves, Brighton, Southampton and West Ham are all showing serious interest.

This latest transfer link arrives from a relatively dubious source, but stories like this are bound to make fans wonder if we have one eye on relegation to the second tier, with us recently extending Dwight Gayle’s contract (despite just TWO starts all season) and being linked with a move for Barnsley’s Daryl Dike yesterday.

Semenyo actually had a loan spell at Sunderland last year and was the subject of a £1m bid from Chelsea back in 2019; only for Bristol City to reject their offer.
