Report claims NUFC will return for long-term Serie A target if we avoid relegation this summer

If reports over the past 18 months are to be believed, Newcastle have been interested in signing Omar Colley across the past THREE transfer windows.

After an alleged January offer was rejected for the 6ft 3′ centre-back, Sampdoria based outlet Club Doria now claim that we are lining up a summer move for the Gambian international.

They state that financial issues will see the Serie A club reluctantly cash in on the 28-year-old at the end of the season, with ourselves, West Ham and Leeds set to be leading the chase.

That said, they indicate that any interest from ourselves will soon evaporate should we suffer relegation, with Colley having his sights set on a move to the Premier League.

Italian outlet La Voce Tigullio reported just a few months ago that a January offer from ourselves was turned down, while his agent also revealed that passport issues scuppered a deadline-day switch to Fulham.

This one will mean nothing if we go down, however Colley might just be one to watch if we stay up and look to refresh our centre-back options as a result.
