Eddie Howe’s camp release statement – An intriguing update amid Celtic & Newcastle links

Eddie Howe’s camp have released a new message on the former Bournemouth boss’ future following an approach from Celtic.

A representative of Howe reveals that he has received “significant interest” from a host of clubs, but brands talk of any move being close as “extremely premature”, insisting that he doesn’t plan on returning to management until this summer “at the earliest.”

This comes after regular links with Steve Bruce’s job in recent months, with a big survey hosted by The Chronicle seeing him come out as the most popular choice to replace the current NUFC boss.

Since then, Sky Sports confirmed last week that he had received an official approach from Celtic, however Howe’s camp insist he is in no rush and will make a decision on his next move in the coming months:

“There has been significant interest in Eddie from a number of clubs.

“However, talks of any deal being close are extremely premature.

“His plan remains to not return to management until the summer at the earliest.”

This update is irrelevant if Steve Bruce keeps us up and keeps his job for another season as a result (perish the thought!), however it does suggest that a summer switch to St James’ Park isn’t outside the realms of possibility just yet.

Who knows if we are one of the clubs to have showed interest in his services, but this update tells me he’s not sold on a move to Celtic and may be keen to see what Premier League options emerge between now and the start of next season.

  1. I agree. He isn’t going to Celtic. Why would a well sought after manager come to Scottish Football.

  2. Let’s hope the announcement on bruce comes immediately after the last game.

It is clear he has been sidelined and though publicly not sacked it was noticeable Jones was back from his seat in the stands at the weekend.

Jones would be a good number 2 to Eddie Howe
