Premier League club urged to make Allan Saint-Maximin move – Dream on…

Ex-Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie has backed his former club to make a summer move for Newcastle United winger Allan Saint Maximin.

Saint-Maximin has only managed 19 appearances for Newcastle this season – managing three goals and four assists – however he showed what he is capable of with a stunning solo goal at Turf Moor on Sunday.

The team had not coped well overall without him in the side, with us winning just two of our last 21 games before that big victory at Burnley over the weekend.

Speaking to the Transfer Tavern, Hendrie explains why Saint-Maximin should be a summer target for Aston Villa – comments that won’t go down well with the NUFC fanbase!

“He [Allan Saint-Maximin] is one that I would certainly take.

He’s got that Premier League credibility.

“We have seen what he can do.

“He’s got that attack rate, he’s got flair, you know, all sorts.

“He could be a key addition to a Villa side that I feel… that’s where they’ve really lacked, in wide areas.

“Touched on Trezeguet before, I think he’d certainly come into the side, he reminds me in certain elements of [Bertrand] Traore, but he’s possibly got that little bit more element of pace going forward and he’s very direct.

“So he’d be someone I’d certainly be looking at.”

Villa are having the opposite season to us, fighting for Europe in their second season back in the Premier League – which was very unexpected after only surviving in the league on the final day last season.

Depending on which league Newcastle are in next year, Saint-Maximin is certainly going to be a man in demand. However, with the 24 year-old signing a new contract last year – keeping him at the club until 2026 – many clubs may struggle to afford the asking price Newcastle will place on him.

That aside, are Aston Villa a club that would really tempt him to leave Tyneside – a place where he is adored – I don’t think so!

  1. He can’t be expected to keep doing it alone = so it’s either Bruce that has to go and a MANAGER brought in ASAP…

    …or risk losing Double-Maximin

It was plain to see how clueless Bruce sent the first 11 yesterday and every other game for the past 2 years!!!

WAKE UP and get rid of Bruce
