NUFC linked with triple swoop as new reports emerge on Celtic, Benfica & Fenerbahce trio

If the latest reports are to be believed, Newcastle are showing interest in Benfica’s Nuno Tavares, Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer and Galatasaray’s Attila Szalai.

Starting with Tavares, it’s emerged from two outlets in the Portuguese press that we are eyeing a move for the highly-rated full-back.

Yesterday, Record claimed we’d made contact over a potential summer deal for the 21-year-old, with O Jogo stating today that we are  ‘attentive’ to the possibility of signing the powerful defender who was first linked with a move to St James’ Park in January.

Elsewhere, an ‘exclusive’ from CaughtOffside claim we have enquired about Celtic centre-back Kristoffer Ajer.

They also claim that 6ft 6′ defender will be allowed to leave Parkhead this summer, stating ourselves and newly promoted Norwich City are interested in the 23-year-old.

This comes just a month after the Daily Mail reported that we were preparing an £8m bid for the Norwegian, with ex-Mag Lee Clark also talking up a potential move for Ajer in a recent interview.

Last but not least, a number of reports in Turkey believe we have been tracking Fenerbahce centre-back Attila Szalai.

Local newspaper Takvim credited us with an interest just last week, however fellow outlet Blikk now claim we are competing with the likes of Aston Villa, Lazio and Napoli for the 23-year-old’s signature.

That said, the same report claims the Super Lig giants are currently demanding €25m – a fee that would not only make him the most expensive Hungarian ever but one that would almost certainly off put Mike Ashley!
