Newcastle handed huge DOUBLE injury boost – but key player nowhere to be seen in training

Newcastle United have confirmed that Allan Saint-Maximin is back in training ahead of Saturday’s trip to Liverpool – a big relief after he limped off in last weekend’s win with a ‘badly swollen ankle’.

One slight concern from the club’s latest training photos is that Callum Wilson doesn’t feature – something Steve Bruce is likely to clarify in his Friday morning press conference.

Elsewhere, Fabian Schar has also returned to full training for the first time since he suffered a serious knee injury over two months ago.

The Swiss international has been spotted in light training in recent weeks, however it seems he’s now stepped up his recovery – the clearest sign yet that he’ll play again this season and make Euro ‘2020’.

Here’s Schar and ASM in action on Thursday:

Good news at both ends of the pitch, with ASM our game changer in attack and Schar a player who was playing well prior to that injury in February’s 3-2 win over Southampton.

Not only that, his return comes at a good time given Jamaal Lascelles looks set to miss the remainder of the season and could well slot into our three-man defence over the coming weeks.

As for Wilson, let’s hope his absence is nothing sinister!
