Bruce picks out NUFC’s unsung hero for special praise after 1-1 draw at Liverpool

Steve Bruce has praised Martin Dubravka following Saturday’s dramatic 1-1 draw at Anfield.

Despite just 31% possession and seven shots to Liverpool’s 22, we managed to stay in the game for the whole 90 minutes and rescued a late point thanks to Joe Willock’s last-gasp equaliser – a goal that arrived just moments after Callum Wilson’s was ruled out!

Somebody who may be forgotten in all this is Dubravka, who made a number of key saves to keep us in the game at 1-0.

Here is what Bruce had to say about the Slovakian’s performance after the game:

“You know when you come to Anfield your goalkeeper has to play well and he did that.

“We were sloppy at times but fair play to him.

“He’s produced some really good saves which kept us in the game.”

While it is easy to pick out Wilson or Willock for what they did in the final stages of the game, Dubravka is my man of the match for what he did throughout the entire 90 minutes.

He made some awkward claims look easy, smothered Salah and Mane on several occasions and gave us a platform to build on in the end.

Without a top class display from him, Willock’s late goal would’ve been nothing more than consolation!
