NUFC linked with double swoop for Ligue 1 duo – 6ft 4′ centre-back & Senegalese midfielder

According to reports in France, Newcastle are interested in bringing Metz duo Pape Sarr and Boubakar Kouyate to St James’ Park this summer.

This comes from L’Equipe, who report that we’ve been keeping tabs on both following impressive debut seasons in Ligue 1.

Sarr, 18, is a defensive midfielder who has bagged three goals for Metz this season, with his performances also believed to have attracted the attention of Chelsea and Everton.

As for Kouyate, the 24-year-old is a 6ft 4′ centre-back who spent a few years at Sporting Lisbon before making the move to France two years ago.

He has made six caps for Mali, while Sarr is a Senegalese youth international who is being tipped to receive a call-up to their senior squad.

Metz boss Frederic Antonetti insists that neither will be allowed to leave on the cheap this summer after helping them push for a top 10 finish, however the impact COVID-19 has had on the majority of Ligue 1 clubs could see both depart when the transfer window opens.
