Joe Willock receives new advice from Rio Ferdinand – Let’s hope Arsenal aren’t listening…

Rio Ferdinand believes Arsenal should give Joe Willock a second chance following his impressive loan spell at St James’ Park – insisting he’s a player they shouldn’t have let go in the first place.

It’s fair to say the BT Sport pundit isn’t well liked on Tyneside, with him often siding with the man who sells his merchandise in Sports Direct and recently telling fans we should buy the club ourselves if we’re so bothered about a takeover!

While his latest comments are complimentary towards Willock, praising his personality, ability to score ‘massive goals’ and determination to perform on the ‘big stage’, they do little to suggest he should be sticking around at Newcastle.

Here’s what he’s had to say when speaking on his Youtube channel this week:

“‘You know what, I like Joe Willock.

“He’s someone at Arsenal that I would have kept. He’s a good young player.

“If Arsenal don’t take him back and have him around that squad… I don’t know, man.

“I really like him and I like his personality.

“He’s not shy to come on the big stage and play and perform.

“And the last three goals he’s scored have been massive goals for Newcastle.

“It shows he’s got the temperament.”

Although his goals and energy have been priceless, Ferdinand is very right in praising his character.

He’s relocated, settled into a new squad seamlessly and refused to let his head drop – despite being bizarrely benched by Steve Bruce in recent weeks.

Willock already appears to be a popular figure in the dressing room and a player us Newcastle fans would love to have back on Tyneside next season.

Let’s hope the decision makers at Arsenal aren’t thinking like Ferdinand and instead agree to sell him this summer!
