NUFC handed hidden boost ahead of Sunday’s clash with Arsenal – Time to take advantage

With us 9 points clear of safety with just five games remaining, it’s fair to say our Premier League status would be all but secured if we can beat Arsenal on Sunday.

The Gunners have had a pretty awful season, losing 13 game so far this season and sitting in 10th on 46 points – making them closer to Bruce’s Newcastle United than those battling for a top four spot.

One advantage we must make the most of this weekend is the fact our game is sandwiched in between two Europa League finals.

After their 8pm kick off at Villarreal tomorrow night, they won’t arrive back in the UK until Friday and will then be travelling up to Tyneside on Saturday – making for a busy schedule and small period of recovery time between their biggest game of the season to date in Spain and Sunday’s trip to St James’ Park.

Their entire season and ability to qualify for Europe now rides on solely on that competition, so it’s fair to say all eyes and all their efforts could be going into games either side of ours this weekend.

Although these top athletes should have no problem playing two games in little over 48 hours, it’s fair to say this only benefits us and is something we must look to capitalise on when Arteta’s side arrive this Sunday.

While they are going through the motions at Premier League level, we know a win will all but secure safety – especially when Fulham face a tough trip to Chelsea.

Let’s start Wilson, get ASM firing on all cylinders and look to take advantage!

  1. All we can be guaranteed of is another back 5 and set-up not to lose. Bruce won’t field a team designed to win the match from the start despite Arsenal’s travel schedule and Euro hopes.
