Surprise NUFC star clocked the 4th fastest player in the Premier League this season

If you were asked to name the quickest player at Newcastle United you’d probably think of Allan Saint-Maximin or Miguel Almiron, but neither have clocked a higher speed than Jacob Murphy this season.

As revealed by Sky Sports, the former Norwich man has been recorded at a speed of 36.5km per hour.

He struggles on Sunday, struggling to cope with Gabriel Martinelli and failing to offer an outlet in attack, however it’s fair to say he’s been one of our most improved players this season, with his direct running, confidence on the ball and delivery from wide areas noticeably better.

Here’s the top 10 speeds recorded at Newcastle United this season, according to Sky Sports statisticians:

  1. Jacob Murphy – 36.5 km/h
  2. Miguel Almiron – 36.3 km/h
  3. Joe Willock – 36.2 km/h
  4. Jamal Lewis – 35.1 km/h
  5. Jamaal Lascelles – 34.9 km/h
  6. Allan Saint-Maximin – 34.2 km/h
  7. Joelinton – 34.2 km/h
  8. Javier Manquillo – 34.0 km/h
  9. Callum Wilson – 34.0 km/h
  10. Ryan Fraser – 33.3 km/h

Interesting results, with it no surprise that Miguel Almiron is in second but quite a shock that Allan Saint-Maximin’s top speed is below the likes of Lewis, Lascelles and Willock, and level with Joelinton!

  1. No Shelvey in the top 10 for speed, what a surprise!
What’s he doing in midfield then?
He couldn’t even make it to the toilet in a hurry!
