According to The Chronicle, Jacob Murphy contract includes an option to extend it until 2022 – something Newcastle look set to trigger in the coming weeks.
With Dwight Gayle set to sign for three more years and us also activating a clause to extend Fabian Schar’s deal by another year, Mark Douglas claims Murphy is the latest soon-to-be out of contract star set to put pen to paper.
His latest piece reveals that Rangers are one of several clubs who’ve made an enquiry to sign the 26-year-old this summer, but it seems he’s all set to stay at St James’ Park.
Douglas also states that the wide man’s priority was always to commit his future to the club, being a life-long NUFC fan who has recently proved himself at Premier League level after breaking into Steve Bruce’s side.
After previously looking timid, lacking in quality and like a rabbit in the headlights in his first season following a £10m move from Norwich, he’s come back from a loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday with a new lease of life.
Whether it be at right wing-back or in a more advanced role, let’s hope he can go from strength to strength over the coming year and continue to live the dream at his boyhood club.
