The extraordinary Allan Saint-Maximin stat that you might just have missed on Friday night

It wasn’t on the screen for long, but during Sky Sports’ coverage of Friday night’s 4-2 win at Leicester, they revealed an outstanding statistic on Allan Saint-Maximin.

Their graphic highlighted that, since January, no Premier League player has created more chances from open play per 90 minutes played than our explosive Frenchman.

This hugely impressed for a host of reasons. Not only is it tough to create chances at such a rate in a struggling side batting relegation, he’s done it soon after overcoming long COVID and across a three-month spell that’s seen us come up against NINE of the current top 10.

It’s also more proof that the exciting 24-year-old is adding final product and composure to his incredible pace, power and ability to beat a man.

Here’s the stat itself, showing ASM above the likes of Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes:

If we can keep him and Callum Wilson fit, we have a front line capable of testing any defence on their day.

Hopefully he can keep his head down, continue to work hard and be our talisman for several years to come, with him one of the most exciting players to watch in the Premier League and a character so many Mags have grown to adore almost two years on from his summer move from Nice.
