Steve Bruce launches new attack on banned journalist live on air – “He needs putting in his place”

Steve Bruce has slated The Mail’s Craig Hope during a radio appearance earlier today, claiming the ‘negative’ North-East reporter ‘needs putting in his place’.

Speaking on talkSPORT today, Simon Jordan ended the interview by asking about the local journalist who was banned from press conferences by the club earlier this year.

This came after Hope released an explosive exclusive reporting on the training ground bust-up between Matt Ritchie and Steve Bruce over two months ago now – a story that saw him banished by the NUFC boss, despite the fact his piece was confirmed to be correct!

Now, Bruce claims that Hope didn’t want him to get the job ‘day one’ and spitefully suggests he only came on talkSPORT to tell his side of the story back in March because it ‘makes him feel a little bit special’.

Here’s what Bruce had to say earlier today:

“Certain journalists who have been on your show didn’t want me here from day one.

“He needs putting in his place.

“Unfortunately, in all of it, your radio station gives him air.

“That makes him feel a little bit special.

“For me, he’s just totally unbalanced.

“It’s always a negative.

“That for me is totally wrong.”

I’m not sure if Bruce is talking about Craig Hope here or his team selections and tactics before Graeme Jones’ arrival…

He really doesn’t come across well at all here, especially considering the story he took umbrage to was confirmed to be true by him soon after it broke!

Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s ‘negative’, Steve.

  2. The bloke is a clown, drops Richie for telling the truth tries to force him to apologise in interviews he refused to do, then says last week everything’s fine and Richie could cause an argument in an empty house.
Thank you for your time Mr Motivator please move on, absolute joke of a manager his premiership record says it all yet he’s patting himself on the back after a few results, what a joke

  3. He has had shelters nearly all season but to be fair if other team’s had lost 3 key players for a couple of months they would also be struggling.

  4. Thank you for your time Mr. Motivator, but would you kindly leave now? This manager is a joke; his record in the Premier League says it all, yet he keeps patting himself on the back after a few victories.
