Callum Wilson sends new vow to Newcastle fans after first season on Tyneside is cut short

Callum Wilson has vowed to return “stronger and hungrier” after being ruled out for the remainder of the season, looking forward to playing in front of Newcastle fans for the first time in 2021/22.

With 17 goal involvements in 26 Premier League games – 12 goals and 5 assists – it’s fair to say our £20m man has enjoyed an impressive first year at St James’ Park.

That said, he accepts it’s ‘frustrating’ to have his 20/21 cut short less than a week before we were due to play our first game of the season in front of fans.

His latest hamstring injury also puts a major dent in his slim hopes of being selected for this summer’s Euros, however he’s insisted he’ll come back better and more motivated than ever when he can finally play in front of Newcastle fans next season.

Here’s what he’s had to say in a personal update on his latest setback:

He’ll be missed in our final three games against Man City, Sheffield United and Fulham – especially by the lucky 10,000 set to return to SJP next Wednesday – but it’s a good his injury has arrived when we’re already mathematically safe!

Hungry, hard-working, a real handful and ice cool in front of goal, he’s proven to be £20m well spent and a striker worthy of donning that No.9 shirt – if Joelinton lets him…
