We’re in that time of the year again, that time when the football season is coming towards its end. It’s been a strange season in many ways, especially for NUFC who had a tough season both on and off the pitch. Soon, it’s time to take the summer off and shift focus towards a new season.
The Off-season
Most people are longing for the summer. Sunny and warm days have been missed during the long winter. For all the football fans, however, summer might be a dreadful time. We’ll have to wait till August until the players will take the pitch of St James’ Park again. Therefore, it might be a good idea to find a new hobby.
Wide Selection of Casino Games
During the season, it’s a common hobby to bet on football. During the summer, however, betting on your team winning is not an option anymore. Therefore, many football fans shift focus to online casino games. Today, there is a wide selection of casino games online. You can find everything from blackjack to video slots.
Video slots are one of the most popular kinds of games at online casinos. For all the Magpies fans who don’t want to take a break from football, there are several video slots with a football theme. One of the most popular video slots is Football fever, which I think we all can relate to.
Video slots are an entertaining way to fill the time that football used to take, as you look back on a season with both ups and downs.
A Season With Multiple Faces
This year, for many NUFC fans, the end of the season may taste somewhat bittersweet. The hopes were NUFC would climb the table from last season, in which they finished 13th. As the season went on, it became more and more clear that NUFC would have to look over the shoulder instead to avoid relegation. Now, it’s finally settled the Magpies will avoid a third Premier League relegation since Mike Ashley joined the club, and the fans can breathe again.
The losing streak
The season of 2020/21 had a steady start for NUFC. A comfortable win against West Ham in the first gameweek was followed by some good performances and results, aside from the 0-3 loss again Brighton.
The real struggles started in December with the 5-2 loss against newcomer Leeds. 2 points in 9 games and the team dropped from 12th to 16th place in the table. With only four teams behind them, the players had to do something.
The non-scoring streak
One of the problems for NUFC was the lack of scoring. During the winning-less streak, NUFC scored one goal in six games. One of the players often criticised for not scoring enough goals is Miguel Almirón, who now has scored 8 goals in 77 Premier League fixtures for NUFC. The fans put lots of hope in Callum Wilson, and in Wilson they could trust. His 12 goals makes 2020/21 his second-most scoring season of his career.
What the squad will look like next season, no one knows. There are still a few games left to be played, but soon we can take the summer off to enjoy silly season as well as our new summer hobbies.
