Joe Willock now on the verge of making Premier League history in front of 10,000 Toon fans

If Joe Willock scores against Sheffield United tonight, he will become the youngest player in Premier League history to score in SIX consecutive games.

The Arsenal talent has been an absolute revelation since arriving on loan in January, not only scoring crucial goals but giving us that athletic, box-to-box option our previously one-dimensional midfield had been crying out for.

He’ll arrive at St James’ Park having scored in each of his last five games, with his strikes against Man City, Leicester, Liverpool, West Ham and Spurs.

Considering he’s clocked up just 213 minutes in that time – coming off the bench for late cameos in two of those games – it means he’s averaged a goal every 42 minutes played since the start of April.

Those are quite incredible numbers for such a young player who covers so much ground between both boxes, highlighting just why Newcastle fans are so desperate to keep him at the club beyond this season.

With that in mind, perhaps it wouldn’t be the worst news if we can win without Willock scoring again and making Premier League history – something that could only add another million or two to Arsenal’s potential price tag!

Whatever happens, he’s been a joy to watch over the second half of 2020/21.

Let’s give him a Geordie welcome to remember tonight and help convince him that we are the club for him ahead of inevitable summer interest from elsewhere.
