Bruce eyes up 4 new signings – Names top priority & plans to convince Mike Ashley to spend

Steve Bruce has confirmed he’s hoping to see the club bring in “at least” 3 or 4 new signings this summer – saying it’s key we now look to add “that bit of quality” to the squad.

The NUFC boss also insists that he’ll be knocking on Mike Ashley’s door as hard as he can to ensure we have money to spend this summer.

Bruce also references the £20m arrival of Callum Wilson as something we must look to replicate, suggesting he wants to bring in players of similar quality who can have an immediate impact.

Here’s what he’s had to say:

“My job is always to knock the door and, believe me, I will knock the door as hard as I can.

“That’s my job but, usually, I go through my CEO, Lee, and he’s fed up of me knocking the door!”

“Think we need at least 3 or 4 but, for me, now, it’s adding that bit of quality to the squad.

“We’ve seen the impact that Callum’s had for example….that bit of quality we can add to the existing squad we’ve got is the most important thing.”

I feel the top priority must be Joe Willock – or the signing of another box-to-box midfielder should he stay at Arsenal – with Bruce also confirming this morning that we’ll ‘test the resolve’ of Arsenal with a summer bid.

Elsewhere, I can see the signing of a centre-back (or two!) being high on our priority list – Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer has been heavily linked – and feel we also need another winger and striker to take the pressure off Wilson and Saint-Maximin; a duo we look lost without whenever they’re injured!

The other area we look to improve is at full-back. Murphy has done brilliantly and Ritchie has been a revelation since coming back into the side, however the latter may yet return to Bournemouth, we’re yet to replace Yedlin, Krafth has struggled when at right-back and Lewis has also endured a difficult first season at St James’ Park.

  1. We need a MANAGER first = if we don’t we’ll end up with players of the quality of Hendrick and Backslder Fraser!!!

Under numpty we’ll be linked to every quality player ONLY to lose ASM a week before the start of the new season…

…after all season tickets have been sold

I’m not renewing my Season Ticket until we have a MANAGER
