Manager backed to replace Steve Bruce in 11th hour U-turn – Next stop, the Premier League?

Eddie Howe has pulled out of the race of the Celtic job at the 11th hour – leaving Hoops fans in shock on the day he was tipped to be appointed.

A whopping percentage of Toon supporters named Howe as the man they want to replace Steve Bruce in a big survey conducted by The Chronicle back in March, with them also stating that the ex-Cherries boss would be keen on the job had we made a move after that 3-0 drubbing at Brighton.

A few months on, a move across the border to SPL giants Celtic is now off – Sky Sports claim he had issues with backroom staff and the budget he would receive – leaving a host of Premier League clubs on red alert.

Crystal Palace remains his most likely destination following the departure of Roy Hodgson – and a move to The Eagles may entice Howe as it means he gets to stay down South.

Nothing has been said of Bruce’s future almost a week on from our final day win at Craven Cottage, with most believing Mike Ashley will stick with him for the final year of his contract should the proposed takeover fail to go through.

  1. Inzaghi has been sacked in Italy, aren’t we interested in his as well.

  2. So what’s the theory here?
If you talk about replacing Bruce often enough Ashley will think “Bruce has done as well as Benitez, while costing me a third in salary, but I’d better replace him because Charlie Bennett thinks it would be a good idea?
I know I’ll replace him with a manager who in his managerial career has averaged 14th in the prem, and last season got his team relegated”.

So what’s it going to be Charlie?

We need a great manager with a history of winning – we need somebody like Rafa.
    or
We need a poor manager who over his management career has been relegation 20% of the time?
    or
We just need anybody but Bruce because he managed Sunderland?

It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.

  3. Howe = dishwasher!

We do need a MANAGER but more one with strength to manage and one with a point to prove = Lampard

But let’s face it = Ashley won’t spend a penny unless he is about to lose money = he knows fans with just moan and still buy season tickets
