NUFC’s forgotten man could now be reunited with former Mag – Talks in the ‘coming days’ – Report

Christian Atsu is set to leave St James’ Park this summer and could even be playing alongside Rolando Aarons next season.

Sports World Ghana are reporting that the winger has attracted the interest of Huddersfield – Aarons’ current club – and that their head coach Carlos Corberan has asked the second tier side to secure his signature on a free transfer/

Saudi-based Al Hilal are also rumoured to be in the hunt for Atsu, whose contract expires at the end of next month, however the ‘exclusive’ states that Terriers’ sporting director will meet with the 29-year-old’s representatives in the ‘coming days’ in a bid to secure a pre-contract agreement.

The Ghanaian international will best be remembered by Toon fans for being an integral part of the 2016/17 Championship-winning season.

Initially signed on loan, he made some vital contributions for Rafa Benitez’s side, most notably a superb striker in our 1-0 away victory at Rotherham which helped secure a £6m permanent move.

He has found game time tough to come by since our top flight return, currently being stuck in our reserves with fellow forgotten man Henri Saivet.

He’ll definitely be leaving this summer, but it’ll be interesting to see if he ends up remaining in England or jetting off to Saudi for one last pay day!
