The rarely-seen Newcastle United star who could be ‘like a new signing’ next season

With money expected to be tight this summer, NUFC could have a secret weapon up their sleeve in the form of Ryan Fraser.

The Scottish international has underwhelmed in his debut campaign, playing just 23% of our total minutes while completing the full 90 just TWICE since his arrival.

Sceptics questioned his attitude when originally signed for the way he wormed his way out of Bournemouth, and he has hardly endeared himself to the Toon Army thus far having spent most of his time here on the treatment table.

He has become somewhat of a forgotten figure on Tyneside, hardly mentioned in conversation while the likes of Joe Willock and Allan Saint-Maximin reap in the plaudits.

However, if he manages to stay fit next time out, he could be our unsung hero and have a real impact on Tyneside.

Without wanting to sound Pardew-esque, he could be like a new signing if he can replicate the form that saw him bag seven goals and 14 assists in the 2018/19 campaign – making him one of the league’s most creative players that season.

Toon fans have scarcely seen his partnership with Callum Wilson, but we did catch a glimpse of the magic when Fraser provided his former Cherries counterpart with a lovely cross in our 2-1 home win over Everton in November.

Still just 27-years old, we could have a £15-20m player on our hands if we stay patient and give him a fresh slate to work off next season – especially if he arrives back on Tyneside on the back of a good Euros with Scotland.

Don’t write this one off yet, folks!
