Player with same agent as Joelinton offered to Newcastle – Bruce a long-term admirer – Report

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle will be handed the chance to sign Joshua King on a free transfer this summer.

The Norwegian international has spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Everton, however it’s emerged today that they have turned down the opportunity to sign him up to a permanent deal.

This is no surprise given he failed to score in 11 sub appearances for the Toffees, however it seems he could be back on our radar this summer now he’s available to sign for next to nothing.

The Chronicle not only report that he shares the same agent as Joelinton – and that Steve Nickson has ‘good ties’ with the player’s representatives at ROGON GmbH & Co.KG as a result – but also confirms that the Bournemouth forward is a player Steve Bruce tried to sign last summer.

So, given the agent links, our long-term interest – he was a player we were heavily linked with during Rafa’s time at the club – and the fact he is available to sign on a free, this might be an offer we take up.

His wage demands may be an issue, with this something that often rockets when there’s little-to-no transfer fee, but he may be eager to be reunited with former Cherries teammates Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser and Matt Ritchie.

Considering he linked up well with the above during their time together at Bournemouth, it could be a shrewd move to bring him to St James’ Park – especially if he can rediscover the sort of form that saw him bag 43 goals and 13 assists in the four seasons prior to his unsuccessful loan move to Everton.
