Premier League ‘leak’ confirms Toon trio have left & hints at new deal for NUFC star – Photo

The Premier League’s latest retained lists appears to confirm Andy Carroll has been released by the club ahead of the 2021/22 season.

The top flight posted the players released from every club on their website, with eagle-eyed Toon fans noticing the big Geordie among a crop of names that have been told their future is up on Tyneside.

Christian Atsu and Henri Saivet’s names also feature on the ‘leaked’ list – two other players who were due to see their contracts expire later this month.

Here’s a screenshot of the Premier League’s official site, signalling three senior exits alongside a host of U23s who’ve also failed to land new deals:

The Premier League’s retained lists also point towards a new deal for Federico Fernandez, with their section on Newcastle United now stating that the Argentine has had his deal ‘extended’ by the club:

Despite being a fan favourite and carrying a swathe of hype around him when Steve Bruce took a put two years ago, Carroll has failed to live up to the heights of his first spell at the club.

He has made 43 appearances and registered just one, solitary, consolation strike against Chelsea.

In his defence, the majority of those games were as a substitute, but his second spell at St James’ Park has been poor to put it mildly and painful to watch at times.

We’d like to wish big Andy and forgotten duo Atsu and Saivet all the best moving forward!
