According to L’Equipe, Newcastle are in the middle of a three-way battle to sign Brest star Romain Perraud.
The French paper claim that ourselves, Southampton and Leeds have all held talks over a summer move for the 23-year-old left-back.
L’Equipe report that Perraud ‘will be joining a Premier League club this summer’ after being one of the standout players in his position across the 2020/21 Ligue 1 season.
They also state that he will command a fee of ‘at least €10m’ and suggest that Southampton appears to be his most likely destination as things stand – although it seems ourselves and Leeds have also been in touch with his representatives.

Given the limited budget at Bruce’s disposal and the fact a left-back will be low down our priority list this summer, this feels like a deal we’re likely to ‘miss out’ on.
After all, many will argue that a free agent move for Jetro Willems would be the most cost-effective option should Matt Ritchie finally seal a move to Bournemouth – especially if this helps fund a big money bid for Joe Willock.
