The Chronicle’s Mark Douglas has shared a few intriguing transfer nuggets in his latest piece on potential summer business at St James’ Park.
First off, he reports that we are listening to offers for Florian Lejeune and Yoshinori Muto, signalling that Steve Bruce won’t give either a second chance on Tyneside – despite the fact the former has impressed during a loan spell in Spain with Alaves.
Another player who looks likely to be sold to boost his limited budget is Dwight Gayle, with Douglas revealing that Fulham have recently reignited their interest in the striker.
The Chronicle report that he, along with Freddie Woodman, are seen as our most ‘saleable assets’ this summer, although it seems the club will be more reluctant to cash in on the latter.
Woodman is believed to be attracting interest from Celtic, Southampton and Arsenal, however Newcastle are expected to insist on inserting a hefty sell-on clause should we decide to cash in following his latest impressive loan spell at Swansea.
Last but not least, the piece reveals that Championship side Luton remain keen on bringing Elliot Anderson to the club on loan – a move that Bruce is believed to have blocked back in January.
Elsewhere, it’s said Peruvian talent Rodrigo Vilca could swap U23 football for a temporary move away in the coming months, having received interest from Holland, Belgium, League One and the Championship ahead of an upcoming ‘transfer summit’ to decide his next steps.
